On August 5, City of White Plains Common Council granted Site Plan Approval for Papp Architects’ proposed adaptive re-use of the former Nathan Miller Nursing Home into at 21-unit multi-family building.
Originally designed in the mid-1960s by Architect William Breger, who was a student of Bauhaus School founder Walter Gropius, the 66-bed nursing home has been vacant for almost ten years. The proposed project will preserve the International Style elements of the original design and insert new compatible modern elements. A new third story, clad in three types of white glass, will be added to the building, set back from the existing roof. Parking will be provided on-site with the construction of a new garage within the lower level of the building. Amenities, including fitness center and recreational roof deck, will be available to each tenant.
